In the thermal insulation of wool fabrics, the influence of weight is much greater than that of count, and the influence of count on thermal insulation is indirect and limited.

The weight directly reflects the total amount of fibers per unit area of the fabric: the higher the weight, the denser the fiber arrangement, the more air can be fixed, and the thicker the insulation layer formed. Nature can lock in more air and significantly improve warmth. Even low count coarse wool, as long as its weight is high enough (such as thick woolen fabric), can still form a strong insulation effect with its dense fiber structure. The count represents the fineness of wool fibers (the higher the count, the finer the fibers), which mainly affects the texture, luster, and fineness of the fabric, rather than the insulation core.
The weight is the primary factor determining the warmth of wool fabrics, and the count has a greater impact on the texture and applicable season of the fabric (high count tends to be light and thin, low count tends to be thick), but it cannot replace the decisive role of weight in the total amount of air layer. When choosing warm wool fabric, prioritize weight and then match the count according to the wearing scene.
